Hello there all =]

Picking up my first car on Monday (Arden blue 3 door Corsa B, 1.0 12V) and i have some 16" alloys here ready for it. They have 205/50/16 tires, will these be okay on standard height?

After i've got some money together i want to get some 195/45/16 rubbers on there and lower it -60mm. Does this sound like it will work alright?

Here is 2 pictures of one very similar to mine with the same alloys and 195/45/16 tires, but standard height, could someone photoshop them for me?:

Could someone also be a dear and colour and smooth the bumpers (the grey bit smoothed into the blue bit, and colour the arch, and the rear tow bar thing = gone please )

Hope the IMG tags work! Got a few other plans but the first big one will be the wheels department.

Also, when i start working on it am i allowed to do a progress thread on it?

Thanks guys, can't wait till monday =]

you should be ok at standerd height, but you need to check the et of your wheels to be able to lower it 60mm, if they are et45-et49 then you will be ok

It's a bit tricky getting it the same level both ends with that angle, but this is roughly 60mm.

I agree with Sean-B though, they seem to be the wrong offset.

Also, with 205/50/16 the tyre is going to be a good few cm's larger than the originals, so the speedo will not be quite right. I have 195/45/16 and they are 2cm larger (which will be minimal difference - I think it's about half an mph at 30) so they will be even bigger. Plus my 12v was noticeably slower after fitting the 16's, and with the extra width on your tyre it will give it a little bit extra grip so will make it harder to turn than it made mine. Then again you will probably have PAS

Base models ftw

It looks sick in the rear photo! Not digging the lack of a spoiler though

Picked mine up today, it's worse than i thought sadly The rear quarters both have pretty annoying dents in, quite noticeable. And the sill is dented, so what i thought would just be a door and bonnet will be a fair bit more

Am i right (and i'm very un-knowledgeable about offsets) that if their ET38's then a set of 10mm spacers will bring it out to ET48, enough for -60mm? I don't plan on racing my car anyway so they shouldn't be too risky?

It's not perfect but here are the blacks colour coded:

Yeah mate mine is the same colour and I want a spoiler too

I'm not quite sure about the spacers tbh, I've not used them and haven't had reason to know about them yet so hopefully someone else will be able to help you out with that.

I'll try working on smoothing it now if you like

Oh yeah, feel free to start a progress thread when you have some pics of your own motor. If you like, include the pics I've done to show what you want it to look like etc.

Edit: It turns out that I fail at smoothing

Haha thanks mate, looks fantastic ^__^

Mine needs fixing before modifying sadly. It has alot of dents in the rear quarters which i'm NOT happy about

If you love photoshop, you could always make my wheels grey for me?

Like this colour:

Oh my god that looks awesome

I've decided i don't want a GSI spoiler though, i want this one:

As i like being different and being rounded i think it'll suit my smoothing plans

Thanks for all your help mate You seem good at photoshop haha!

If you want a challenge and your bored you could always try the spoiler *pulls puppy eyes and all that*

I'm alright with photoshop, as ever there will be people out there way better than I am

If you can get a pic of the spoiler at a similar angle to the car pic then I'll give it a bash

WHEY HEY!

Just checked my offset, it says ET45 on mine (they were off a cavalier if that helps, despite being aftermarket), does this mean i can go with my previous plan of a -60mm drop on 195/45/16's?

Yeah that should be alright

I haven't done a lot to my car yet because of insurance and actually buying the parts, if you click on the Garage button on my posts you can have a look at a load of pics from when I bought it (this Feb) to now.
