Its going to cost you more money to insure a 1.0 with a 1.4 engine than it will to insure a factory 1.6..

The database the insurers used to get their details from will still show your car as a 12v so your 1.4 engine will be a modification.

make sure that the power steering, if youve got it is the same, such as electric and hydraulic. i didnt look for this on my engine swap and i have to convert which is a pain.
also have a look at the brake servo vacuum pipe, see if its the same connection, whereas mine was also different.

The EPS on the 1.0 and 1.2 can be made to work with an engine conversion

yer, but its abit of extra work, my engine i bought was hydraulic, so have to take off the pump, get a new tensioner and alternator belt and engine mount.
Does the EPS run off the alternator belt or?

Nope, EPS is electronic as far as I know.

You need to join a wire from the EPS ECU to one behind the clocks, I think it's the speed wire?

but if my engine loom isnt EPS, surely it wont have a wire?
wouldnt it be on my original loom? and any idea which the EPS wire is? lol cos there a few wires behind there.

I don't know, but along the way I have picked up that to make the EPS work again all you need is to connect one wire from behind the clocks

i wouldnt bother going for a 1.4 16v conversion mate...why not just buy a standard 1.4 sport...they are cheap enough...get all the interior and everything and as said above will work out more expensive this way.

Go get a 1.4 then in a few year/s do a 2.0 conversion of some sort!
