Tiscali - Would go down for long lengths of time, once for 2 weeks after they said it would be down for 2 days, and they insisted the service was fine until I asked to speak to someone else.
Demon - Again the service would go down for hours, sometimes days. Would always disconnect at 5.
Toucan - Found out afterwards they were part of Tiscal Was super fast and problem free for a few days and then the 5pm downtime came, it randomly disconnects through out the night, pisses off my mates when we speak on MSN! Sometimes it would disconnect every few minutes but would then reconnect without problem, would always need connecting when going online too.
Now been with Sky since Thursday and I havn't had to reconnect once

Welcome to the club. I am waiting for my BB to be switched to SKY.
Only switched to the 2MB Base package for now as I was on 8MB with BT and never got over 2.7 ish MB. Must not be close enough to the exchange. Connection wise BT never dropped apart from a couple of occasions but their customer service is a fucking nightmare. If you need to ring them your fucked.

How?
sky, vodafone, and many others just rent lines from BT. sky use bt's wholesale lines and billing systems, and tbh its actually pretty good.
bt consumer is pants-wholesale are good.

Sky only use BT equipment if the exchange isn't LLU.
If it is LLU the only bit of BT equipment they use is the twisted pairs.

We are with Orange by default as they bought Wanadoo out who we were originally with. Its never let us down but we still want to change cos we can get a much faster speed with others for a similar price

If it's one of the cheap or free options it's not BT, if it's the one you have to pay near £20 for it is BT.

I used to be on Wanadoo, started having problems as soon as they changed their name from Freeserve, kinda weird but meh.
