Telling people they can get 50meg is all very well, that 50 meg is useless if they haven't upgraded the 20meg network, which probably hasn't been upgraded sunce 2meg.
The 50mb runs on Docsis 3 rather than 2, and they're shutting down the analogue TV side of the network which will free up bandwidth, so they are catering for it.

I'm hoping that because I'm on a small exchange it'll not be oversubscribed but if I'm not happy I'll be leaving within the 31 days, I'll just need to see how it goes.

Had o2 for a week now.
Bit slow early evenings.
Just got ubuntu at an average of 755k/s though was up at 830 for the first 50%, maxing out my line so not bad so far overall.

If you're after a ADSL line, Sky's unlimited service is excellent.
edit; didn't read the whole post, glad you got it sorted. If you run into any problems o2's support is supposed to be top notch

Hmmm, so O2 may be an alternative to entanet then?

I'm still not 100% convinced, if it's just a bit slow in the early evenings I can cope with it for the price and if I continue to get top speeds the rest of the time.
I'll keep my eye on it and report back.

Was slowing about half 9/10 last night again.
Just got another cd image there.
Over http, looks like it came from some uni in holland, 854MB in 18m 30s, average of785kb/s, was again up at 840 for quite a bit of it.

I tend to find with Sky that once 4PM comes I get about 1Mbit less - so only around 110KB/s. If I re-sync around 10PM (just after I get back from work) I get my full speed again.
