Im fed up with this internet connection being so dog slow thanks to my father
So i'm going to get my own internet line. I am with O2 but I cant get the cheap package as I am not in a O2 internet area. Although I can get the £17.50 package which is upto 8mb and 'unlimited'
Can anyone tell me if it is actually unlimited? Will I be ok using torrents and rapidshare on it? Or are they going to tell on me like Virgin do to their clients

Plusnet openly throttle torrent bandwidth and have low usage limits.

not if you get Plusnet pro and strike a deal on a bigger useage, plus i did mention about clear speed restrictions whereas other companies just do it when you become a heavy user, id rather know when im going to get slowed as opposed to whenever BT or whoever fancy

Entanet don't throttle anything, the 20 quid a month package gets you 30 gig on peak, 300 off, if you want to pay more you get more.
I was with plusnet, i'm now with ukfsn(entanet reseller, there are more), ukfsn are much better.

As already said any entanet reseller - im with adsl24. 20 p/mo for 30gb peak & 300gb off peak, you also get usage meter to keep track of it.
I regulaly get 600k on decent torrents (legal of course) and my connection to exchange isnt perfect - I sync at 6mbps

O2 are by far the most reliable and fastest ISP I have used.
You might want to get another router though, their Thomson offering is a bit shit.

I have just got it through the post today.
Going to give it a try and if it is crap I will just chuck my netgear on there.
Why do they supply a CD? Surely you just bang in your details and away you go

The CD is for 'beginners' to computers/the Internet. It also contains a free copy of McAfee Internet Security Suite.

not to many issues with 50mb though there, plus its optical so even if they throttle you get a steady connection unlike adsl

Yea it is as they cut down your connection to a lower speed. just do downloading through the day. and you wont get throttled at night.
