I've tried to install Service Pack 1 on my missus laptop 7 times now, and every time its crashed the computer and had to restore previous settings. All previous updates were installed.
Any ideas? Is it essential it has SP1?

Strange, vista neds a certain amount of ram just to run, my thinking was if it was an old system it might not be able to even run that alone.

Put xp pro on instead. Far more stable imo
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Yeah I wont be going back to XP - apart from this hiccup i've only had good things to say about Vista.
XP had as many problems when it came out but not many people rolled back to Win2000 or Win98.
Emailed Microsoft Support and they took some info off the PC and are getting back to me.
