just downloaded the program spotify for music and it says i can pay 99p for a 24 hour pass. does that mean i can download as many songs onto my computer as i want for 24 hours for 99p?
i was using i tunes which is 79p per song...

Spotify is free to stream, can you not just do that? If you really want the MP3's you could capture them with a program called Audacity?

i'm listening to the tunes now i'd just like to get some more on my ipod so i can listen to them in the car.
can't use any dodgy programs like limewire, ares due to ISP issues

got audacity now, but it comes up ''error while opening sound device. please check the input device settings and the project sample rate'' when i press the record button.

What is your input device setting set to?
If it works on my boggo spec laptop it should work on anything

Edit -> Preferences
Set all three drop downs to M$ Sound Mapper, if the option is there, if that option doesnt exist, list the options here
edit - that could be Vista only, so post all the options you have available

playback is set to MS sound mapper.
recording: device there is no option
channels it's on 1 (mono)
theres 2 (mono) and 3-16 with no mono next to them.
i have vista too.

Make sure you have your speakers on, it will record at the volume you have your speakers set to, so having them too loud may produce a distorted track recording
Once recorded you need to export to MP3 (File menu) although you get another error with that to do with LameMP3Enc, which I can help with

for some reason under the recording option i can't choose any device which i guess is why it won't work

Sounds like you are missing a driver of some description then, but I cant find this mapper thing installed either in Control Panel or Device Manager....

can't find anything wrong, it's annoying i'll just have to keep hunting and find out what wrong, cheers
