had virgin cable modem and TV for 7 years or so now

ran off the same cable OK since day 1

last week, Internet went off, but everything else was OK. Tried many thhings, and in the end I moved the modem onto another cable feed in the house and it worked. So I tried the TV on the "broken" cable and it also worked - so can not be a broken cable

so TV works on both feeds
Modem only works on one

Both cables are fed from a splitter in house, all cables etc look OK so far

any ideas?

If its the original router from 7 years ago, ring them up and tell them theres a problem - they'll send you out a new modem straight away.

Could still be a faulty cable thats working for the frequencys the TV uses but not the modem.

Could also be that output on the splitter.

splitter - OK as I have tried the good cable on the bad cable's connection

damaged cable that is OK for frequency's for TV - looks like this is the only valid reason

thanks

could still be a dodgy modem, eitherway called tech and get an engineer round to have a look
