Any ideas why? Just installed new RAM and that's gone down to sit below 40% now, but my CPU usage sticks @ 100% for a couple of minutes then will go down to about 15%... just keep changing like that.
This is without me opening or closing anything, literally I can just sit on the desktop watching it

Background processes... i.e. anti virus, Windows Update, etc.
Or you might have a virus

no running Vista are you?
This happens to the gfs laptop...it just sticks between 30seconds to 3 minutes then carriers on...no idea why, but CPU goes to 100% and jumps all over the place!

Hi I'm running Windows 7 RC.
Happened again tonight just for a few minutes! Everything grounded to a hault... I have no anti-virus, defrag, updates or downloads going, it just seems totally random
