have a 1.4 16v corsa B in the bay on the passenger side below the battery and next to the box is a large black box thing that has a pipe going into something on the manifold, if anyone knows what i'm describing and what it does i'd like to know please.... cheers

it warms the cat up quickier, you don't need it unbolt and unplug

there also designed to have cats but we remove these

thats good as i have left it off after fitting a x16xe in place of the x14xe and fired it up with it off and it seems to run ok without it so was wonderig what it actually did if anything, cheers for the answer dan

It doesnt need to be in there, they were designed for vauxhalls in other countries as they test their emissions from start of key so they needed something to warm the cat up quicker. As the uk does not do this in the mot test we dont actually need the SAI and it can be removed.

Oh and before you remove it make sure you blank off the whole thats left in the manifold, i used a piece of ally plate cut to the same shape as the valve you unbolt front the manifold.
