depends on the connections on ur tv and lappy. 15pin vga cable if both tv and lappy have them. Or hdmi if its there. Will also need a cable for the audio, again depending on connections could be a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Or could use optical if you have amp equipment etc

Depends on your laptop. My laptop has a blu ray drive so has a HDMI connection built in

S-Video -> S-Video would be the easiest, the round sockets with many pins

VGA to HDMI
VGA to Scart
Maybe someone can confirm these would both work.

If the cable works, VGA to HDMI would be the best bet. Then you'd need an audio cable (as VGA can't carry audio as well as video, i think). So you'd need to get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm or 3.5mm to RCA (http://sewelldirect.com/35-mm-Mini-Stereo-to-Dual-RCA-Red-and-White-Cable---6-ft.asp).

They dont work, there for the other way around. You will need a converter to make those work as the signal is completely different.
Your only options are to use s-video (shit quality) or get a converter.
