I just took the car out in the country and gave it a good thrashing, loved every second, Really thrilling and some nice roads round here.
Anyway, while I was giving her a good thrashing, the tappets began tapping which is usually an indication of no oil but the dipstick has oil to the maximum line.
Any ideas guys? cheers

It's nearly a 15 year old car using most of the same internal components it left the factory with (I'm assuming). It's general wear and tear really. Could try some thicker oil and see if it helps.

Hmm, tappets should not be making tapping noise as it's not healthy. They should be oiled up well enough to be quiet.
Think I'll give it an oil change with some thicker oil, what do you reccommend? ty

15w40 dont go thicker than that though. the lifters are only tapping because as the oil gets hotter it thins down and isnt as effective

if after a decent oil change (make sure the engine gets realy warm as this will help flush crap out the engine) it still taps with thicker oil in then id check the lifters and rocker arms for wear if they arnt to bad (its 14/15 years old so there is going to be some wear) then personaly id take the head off and get it cleaned in a hot bath cleaner/ultra sonic cleaner (depending on personal choice) as this will clean out anything in the oil feeds to the lifters. but first thing is a good oil & filter change
