I was recently pulled over and defected by the police for what they call "undue noise".

They say my exhaust is so loud when i drive through town that all the shop windows vibrate.

Personally im quite proud of it if what they say is true, but they dont seem to like it.

They told me i have 14 days to get it fixed. Now, i have a silencer on order, but would like to know how i would go about setting it up to meet their requirements of 80bd and still have a nice note.

I asked about how i could make sure it is noise legal, but all the cop could come up with is "I dont know". Im now trying to find out if anone knows how i can check this

Exhaust noise is a grey area, not sure if they can do you for a motoring offence if the exhaust is legal in the eyes of an MOT station but they could section 59 you for using a motorvehicle in an unsociable manner.

Ive been to various exhaust shops over the past week and they cant really do much for me but suggest i go back to standard.

I did buy i silencer which i am yet to fit. Hopefully that keeps the cops happy.

I also brought up the possibility of when mine and my friends exhaust note are combined they create a certain frequency that goes over the legal limit as i have never had trouble when ive driven round on my own
