I have to pay my Halifax Credit card off before completion of the mortage. I've done this but require a short term loan to buy a few bits for my flat which will be paid off within the first 6 months or so of moving in. No where does it state i can't owe money on another card 
Who's doing intrest free at the moment, obviously cannot be the Halifax

think the tesco credit card has 12 months 0% on purchases, if i heard the wife correctly

No more than a grand.
Have a few grand spare saved. But i want to keep that in case something bad happens such as coming out of work.

virgin are doing 16 month balance transfer 0%
post office are doing 12 months balance transfer 0%
think both are 0% on purchases for 3 months

I've just replaced my Natwest one with an Egg one. The balance transfer is 0% until Oct 10 and you get 0% on purchases until Dec.

When they say 0% on purchases, does that mean buying things on the card? I assume so but would like to make sure 
Tesco are doing 0% on purchases for 12 months.

You can't do much else with a credit card other than purchase things on it

Virgin is a bad recommendation if he want's to buy stuff and not balance transfer.

Virgin is a fantastic card. There are always 0% offers on for one thing or another.
Normally 0% on any purchases over £250.01 for 6 months etc, plus the introductry rates.
I've had about 6 credit card swapping balances since I've been 18 (now 21, nearly 22) and Virgin are by far the best at looking after you when a customer.

Or get one of the cards with interest free for 12 months and not pay a 3% fee.

Might just sack this idea and just skimp a little bit until in the place and funds are flowing again.
Either way i'm going to be paying for what ever i buy
