I know this has probably been covered before but just wondered what the up to date thinking on this was. As its come to the point where I should start looking into it
For a small nice flat or something what would you be expecting to pay on a month or a morgage with something like a 20,000 deposit put down.
Anyone just moved out/bought something will be good to here your input

Depends how much the mortgage is doesn't it.
Go or Barclays website, they have a mortgage calculator and you can calculate repayments.
Basically I'd say take the repayments and double it, that be a rough estimate of your outgoings if you can live fairly frugally.

If you're moving in with your other half, then just make sure that if one of you loses your job, the other one's wages covers the payments.

when i enquired last month, i would be paying about 900 quid per month on a 150k mortgage iirc.
not so bad for me as both me and the missus work full time, although her salary isn't that good (15k p.a)

I went to apply for a mortgage on saturday,
I want 85,000 I need 15% deposit
rate was 6ish % for the first year then 3.8% for 2 years after, a 25 year term would see me paying £391 a month, but Im allowed to overpay that by £499 a month with out penalty
just need another couple of grand for my deposit and Il be away

Can get away with some 10% deposits if your credit is ok.
I just put down a 10% deposit on my mortgage.
