most cars the fuel filter is located underneith the car, on the side the petorl cap is towards the back wheels.
it looks like a small tin, with a tube coming out of each side.
before you just jump in head first, be warned that at the end of the tube, each side of the filter is a clip that needs to be pushed in using special pliers.
it can be done without but it a right pain in the ass, so either try get the tool or just ask your local garage pop it on it wont take long or be expensive and it will save you a big hassle.

popped mine off with a small screwdriver very gently but as stingray said they are very easy to break and can result in all new fuel lines being need if broken

used a screwdriver 3 different times now, never had any bother
