Last night whilst @ gatwick waiting for my delayed mates flight, i went online using my laptop through bluetooth to my phone. It came up saying connection speed was 119.3Kbps!! Is this right for a 3g mobile connection? Thought it would have been faster than that. It was fine for browsing here/fb/ebay etc, and fbchat/msn so wasnt too bad.

With 3. I just connected the two via bluetooth. Went into Nokia Data Suite, and clicked connected to the internet. Then it loaded my 3G data connections and asked which one i'd like to use, so i selected the one i usually connected with my phone and it connected it all

Depends on how strong the signal is, amongst other things. I've only ever seen 340KBps once (at University), the rest of the time it's sub 120Kbps

I can download stuff pretty quickly on 3 with a good signal, quicker than my landline at parents, don't know exactly how fast it is though

3g is 7200 kbits or 7.2 mbites you dived the figure by 8 to give transfer rate stated in kbytes
so 7200 / 8 = max tranfer rate of 900kps
but this is not likely in the real world enviroment

In my bathroom (strongest 3G signal) the highest download speed I got was 1078kbps. Used the Speedtest.net application with various servers, o2 network.
