Hi there, my friend has a problem with his engine, the symptoms are :
engine doesn't idle right
the car judders and kangaroos from time to time on the motorway and driving around town
Car stalls at traffic lights
When the car is started up whenever, it idles for a few seconds then just cuts out
We unplugged the AFM, the car is fine but we changed the AFM for a new one and still same symptoms
Just wondering if anyone knows or could shed some light on the situation??

Try cleaning out the throttle body, I've had it a couple of times. There's a breather pipe from the rocker cover to the top hat which ends up dragging bits of oil into the throttle body, clear it out and it's usually sound

EGR or Idle air control at a guess. No management light on?

I cleaned both out and my god did it make a lot if difference.

Yeh only comes on when the car starts to "kangaroo" whilst driving

I that case you're may well be looking at 2 separate problems.
I'd try the throttle body first purely because it'll only cost you a couple of quid for a tin of carb cleaner.
Once you've done that, see what happens and report back.
One question, the AFM you bought, is it a genuine Vaux part? I've had 3 non genuine AFMs for mine, one was ok but only lasted about 8 months, the other two were useless and never worked properly. I've since bought a genuine one and I think it's lasted me almost 2 years now. From my experience Vauxhalls don't seem to like non genuine sensors.

Yep the AFM was a genuine vaux part mate, But done a diagnostic test today on it and it came back as o2 sensor, which is lambda sensor isn't it?

Yeh i didn't think of it either, But i'll still clean the throttle body out though,
