I had a Samsung N510 with HDMI out, used to play films on it but used to jump on occation would piss me off. It was Intel Atom 1.66Ghz

Sold it and looking at this, would this be ok for HD Media do you think?

that would be fine.
The Atom to me sounds like a netbook, and therefore slightly less powerful.

that tesco one looks cheap tho, blue lid and all.

I do like the acer timeline with dedicated graphics too

both will handle at least 720p.

atom should handle 1080p with the correct setup though?

edit; yup, http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/DXVASupport.html should sort you out.

Sorry noshua, hadn't seen your post when I posted.

You can't have had it set up correctly to use the hardware decoding, ION can do 1080p fine.

Yep, see my link in the above post. You need a player that supports GPU acceleration, which MPC-HC does.

I was using klite pack and media player classic. Should have been fine.... it was annoying tho

ah well its sold now anyway. Want a small ish laptop to carry around, HD moveis via HDMI, itunes emails internet bla bla bla....
