I wanna paint mine red and get some graphics stuck on, but I have a feeling it would last about 2 seconds with the heat of the engine!

The rocker cover never gets that hot normally. After all it is only plastic. Using a can of vauxhall carabic blue followed by lacquer would be fine. Make sure you sand the cover down first.

I have never done it. Try using brake caliper paint if you are worried about heat.

TIP: Thoroughly remove the wax film the cover is coated with and give it a damn good clean. When you think its clean, clean it again or the paint won't stick.

when i did mine the paint went funny! I sanded it back to plastic and primed and lacquered it. Looked mint when it went on but the texture went funny.
Get the rocker powder coated! I can do them on exchange!

I think miles' is reffering to the ACTUAL rocker cover, and not the bit of plastic as shown in the picture above. This is actually called the 'cylinder head cover'

heres my cover painted in milano red with 'HSV' (Holden Special Vehicles)decals. Easy to do... just rub down the cover with some wet n dry paper, prime it up, hit it with colour then give it a clear coat. i used 5 coats of colour n 4 coats of clear. i used normal automotive paint and its been a year now without a problem. i think its the prep work that determines the quality n whether it will last... do it once - do it right
one tip that u might find helpful is that if ur gonna use decals is to spray another coat of clear once the decals are on... makes sure the decals wont peel off.
