Anyone using one of these devices? I'm wanting to move the router out the main bedroom and into the spare room. Don't really want to be physically be moving phone lines at the moment.

What are you trying to achieve by moving the router?

I've never seen one of them advertised that doesn't say it can't be used for ADSL.

Get a couple of develos if you can't run cat5 or use wireless.

This item can be used on an ADSL Enabled Telephone Line, but, you will need to use an ADSL Filter to separate the ADSL Signal from the connection to the Extender (as it cannot carry an ADSL signal, which means it is not suitable for use as an extension for your broadband connection).

They are all pretty much based on the same tech tbh...

Sorry, I meant to say they all make it obvious that you can't use it for ADSL, even if you didn't know, which somebody who does IT for a living should.

Funny fucker arnt you...

Yes i do work in IT but we cannot know this ins and outs of every device on the market - there are way to many devices on the market. We would move the phone line in a situation like this but as this is a temp solution i'm not wanting to run cables in my own house simply because i won't be staying here for more than a couple of years and don't want the hassel of decorating etc.

I want to move the router, not use Wireless. Although you have been fairly helpful, you're still and arse.

You can't move the router any way apart from running a phone line to where you want to move it.

Using a couple of devolo's (or other branded homeplug) is the best alternative if you can't run new wires.

I've used Devolo and Netgear home plugs in the past which didn't work too well on the internal wiring. Don't really want to go down that route. I'm also now becoming a little concered of the amount of electrical equipment i'm running constantly.

Going to have a look into a decent Wireless N router or possible a modem in bridged mode with a decent wireless firewall in place.

I'm wanting to move all the IT equipment into the spare bedroom due to the amount of heat it's generating. Not a problem in the winter but it is this weather.
