Went to plug in the usb cable and the plug on the hard drive has come loose and is rattling around inside.
I took it apart and though if i stuck it back down with a little super glue it would be ok.
low and behold it isnt working 
any ideas

does the usb socket need re-soldering to the circuit board???
bit confused at what you mean by:

the usb socket that attaches to the circuit board som3ehow is no longer attached. i tried superglue in the vien hope that all contacts would still work but they dont
is it an easy fix to get it resoldered on

take it to someone competent with soldering and they should be able to do it.

just out of interest is it the gloss black seagate hdd? as mine was shit and loose when I got it. Wish i sent mine back now.

yep a glos balck 500g one
think i will try get it fixed and incest in a new one as back up
