Brand new blackberry sends and receives texts and calls but can't connect to Internet either via wifi or mobile.
Any suggestions??
Error messages are - radio not turned on  or can't find server

Do you have to set something up then? Even for wifi?

For wifi, you have to set the browser up to work differently, it's auto configured to work off your BIS which it sounds like you don't have 
You'll need to know your TCP and APN settings or something iirc.

You need your network to setup your account for BIS, the other way as rich suggests is with your APN settings but I had sod all luck with that!

But seriously, what a palava!!
It's not my phone by the way (thank god) makes me love my iPhone even more!!
So I've to call vodaphone now? Just to use it on wifi?

It's because it works in an entirely different way than other phones.
1 phonecall and 30seconds later it will work. Hardly what I would call a pollava. Plus if you had purchased it from someone half competent should have told you that in the first place.
Everything data wise goes through Blackberries server so is compressed and secure unlike any other phone.
It's different yes, not much effort tho!

As Jambo said, it's not that much of an arseache to call your network to add BIS. Otherwise do a google on Blackberry Curve Wifi Setup, theres a few links explaining how to setup up Wifi on the curve (chances are it'll be an encryption issue with the router).

A lot of phones don't play nicely with certainly wireless chipsets. For instance my mates 3GS hates my Netgear and Linksys routers (have to switch security off for it to work, no idea why), yet i haven't had issues with my ZTE Blade or other peoples BB's thinking about it.
As said, it's probably an issue with the routers security settings (heard the curve also likes to be on channel 11, so you might need to change that as well in the router settings) and it'll probably connect fine if you temporarily switch the security on the router off.

Had all sorts of things connect to our wireless with no problems from nintendo ds, wii, xbox, iphone, blackberrys, ipad, blah blah so i doubt very much its that! but thanks anyway will call vodafone and see if they can help
