Has anyone ever dug one, what depth/width/length did you go? how did you reinforce the walls?

We have one at the farm. Its been there a few years and cant remember exactly how it was done. Ours is just under the width of a car. Obviously had to be wide for lorries, but a car can fit over it safely too. Its a fair length also
What do you mean by ramp?

Also need to make allowance for waterproofing it. Don't want it to just fill with water from the ground around it

We have a ledge around the bit, and a piece of box section steel the width of the pit that we can slide along to have a jack on, or use it to stand on if you need to stand at the bonnet of a car
