I've got to install some cabling for a customer fairly soon, they have some trunking already installed (was done by BT when they installed their phone systems).
Rather than having loads of ethernet cables trailing on the floor everywhere I want to use the existing trunking and install some back boxes and faceplates to plug patch cables into.
I have the following questions:
- do the faceplates/boxes/trunking come in one particular size or do I need to go back and measure the height of the trunking?
- will it be fine to route the existing telephone cables through each backbox?

cant you mount the backboxes above/below the trunking just taking what cables you need into each box?
better job imo.

I guess, but I just thought it might look better all being part of the same trunking.

Backbones will be single or double. Then ranging from 20mm to 50mm ish deep. You'll need deeper ones cos of how deep the cat 5 sockets are.
Faceplates are single or double and have a cutout that takes a number of sockets and blanking pieces.
Trunking comes in loads of sizes, don't worry about that tho.
Back boxes have 'knockouts' in each side (you'll see what mean) this can be knocked out with a pair of snips.
Buy decent backboxes or the knockouts will be shit and the whole box will break. Stick to MK boxes.
You'll be fine routing cables thru boxes even though if they are not terminated in there.
Think that's what you meant

Sam, use Mayflex for all of your networking needs. Invest in some decent tools (Mills Ltd sell these).
You'll be fine routing existing cables through the boxm, just no 240V electricity
