Just about to move into a new build and seen various offers around, but nothing thats in date.
It appears the only way to avoid the £130 connection charge is to take out broadband/TV with them, which I wont be doing.

Does anyone know if theres any other way to avoid the charge?

Go with sky talktalk or similar, a lot of them will do it for 40 quid.

when we moved to a new build, we got reffered to an installer, who sorted things out, was much much cheaper than doing it ourselves. Did the building company not have anything like that in a welcome pack etc.. ?

I've had friends who have had Sky and Virgin lines from the outset, they don't seem to charge the line setup fee.

No, the eleccy's have left the site but they may be up to finish off some tidying up.
That being said, I read on BTs website that if the engineers need to do any work at the exchange, they're likely to charge full price.
Im dam sure BT will have new terminations out in the road to make (possibly the exchange as well).

The cables are all laid ready for terminations, there isnt much work for the BT engineer.

Mighe be cheaper to buy out of the contract and take out new; they did free connection for me in December and then were the cheapest line rental also which was a plus!

I dont think that relates to just a telephone line, I think you still need to take out another service...

I think my best bet is to just bite the bullit and carry on with Plusnet, I can use the 'Spread connection' which just spreads the £130 fee out over £20 quarterly payments which isnt so bad.

I dont want Sky broadband, always been with plusnet (have an uncapped/unmetered business account

) and dont want to jeopardise any of that.

(Some of it is throttled, but not my critical protocols)

Just sorted out the BT telephone line.
Normally £130, or they’ll charge just £30 for an 18 month contract providing you make 10 calls per month.
If you don’t they’ll charge £5 for that month, which equates to £90 in total either way.

Also carried the old number accross and have a similtaneous code which should allow plusnet to activate the broadband pretty much the same day.

I'm getting BT Infinity for £36 a month which includes the TV also.

Was £4 a month cheaper with the TV. I've not plugged the box in yet.

Theres a couple which arent... BUT that being said, Ive never had any problems or issues with Plusnet, im just paying a little extra for it.
I wont swap because I know PN works and works well, it'll really grind my gears if I sign up to a cheaper supplier and its slow/capped/doesnt work.
