Hello all,

Im wanting to sell an old laptop on ebay, therefore i would like to completely wipe the HD of all traces of secure data. Im led to believe that a simple reformat does not cut it.

Any advice on software i can use?Or anything i can do myself? I heard DBAN is good although i dont have any CD-R's to hand for burning a disk.

DBAN is good, whatever you use you'll need to either burn to disc or put on some form of USB memory.

I've used a free WD Diagnostics tool before to format/zero/format a drive.

Killdisk is another popular tool as well as DBAN mentioned.
