Currently I'm signed up to GigaNews paying about $29/month, but I want to find a cheaper alternative.
In the last 6 months I've used 1100gb on my account but could probably calm it down to about 100gb/month if fixed plan works out cheaper.
Can anyone recommend a good company to switch to?

Thanks!

I'll be honest and admit I'm not actually sure what all the benefits are over torrent, but I was advised by a collegue to try newsgroups and just did
I did notice a huge improvement in terms of speed, and I have the SABnzbd++ package running on my Synology, which means I can leave it running 24/7 and it's fully automatic (repairs/unpacks the downloads without intervention). I have a nice app on my iphone/ipad called myNZB which allows me to monitor and control my SABnzbd+ service on the Synology, and allows me to search and bookmark on my Newzbin account

Yeah, I have had a few U2U's and have been reading up.
It seems like more work than I want tbh
Reminds me a lot of DC++, but then I havent used that in yrs so might have a poor memory of that
But thanks for the info, might be worth a look next week when I get my 50mb connection in

Where do people get their nzbs from? is it worth paying for nzbmatrix or newzbin?

I use nsb matrix, bin search seems to be not bad and it's free though.
As of the other day I've got sabnzbd, sickbeard, astraweb and nzbmatrix, automated the process of downloading my tv shows, seems to work well.

John you need CouchPotato as well, like sickbeard but for films. Add it, when it comes out it'll auto download it in the set quality.
Sickbeard is good once you get it setup correctly.
I use nzbs.org - so simple and free but signups are closed now and are indefinably.

Can you get it to just dl anything that comes out in 1080p? Would be quite good to just check on a Fri night and see what was there.

Not as far as I know, you have to specifically give title for it to download.
However, an RSS feed to nzbmatrix would easily grab anything 1080p, I hope you've got plenty of bandwidth spare though :S
