im a bit of an apple fan and have used macrumours.com for ages to keep myself upto date with whats going on in the apple world. i wouldn't mind broadening the horizon so to speak to see what else is going on from other manufacturers etc, so wondering if anyone uses sites that keep them up-to-date with current and forthcoming 'stuff' and which ones you find good? id be keen to keep an eye on the smartphone and tablet markets at the moment....

Engadget and Gizmodo are probably the two most popular sites for Technology, I use Engadget myself.
I also cruise Neowin on a regular basis.

She wonders how they can patent a technology that has been developed/used by several companies and governments for many many many years if not decades with no real input from the Apple corporation as such. We ended up in a long drawn out argument about patents and inventions. I said the Dyson stole the idea for cyclone vacuum cleaners from big industrial dust extraction systems but he still owns several patents but in turn his idea has been copied in a fashion by Hoover etc etc but being young and clever I was never going to win! Kids eh?
Also as a six year old girl she apologises for her lack of knowledge on the subject as she like to spend her spare time having a life and not spending endless hours on tinterweb like you and I.
