Old Dells on it's last legs and want to purchase but it actually dies.

Main uses are to hold plenty of music and films, decent battery and 15.6" screen.

What do you reckon to this?

Steer clear of HP and Packard Bell.

Go for something with an Intel Core i processor (i.e. Core i3, i5 or i7). Although in your price range you'd probably only get an i3 or maybe an i5 at a stretch.

Toshibas are OK, if you get one and the battery doesn't take a charge you need to leave it charging for a few hours before the battery will accept a charge.

I'd recommend Samsung laptops, well built IMO.

I don't like HP as you know, but they have pretty much stopped making consumer computers hence cheap prices now.

Resale values will probably be shit though

I had a HP for 2 years until something cooked, endlessly dropping it and using it 10 hours a day minimum.

had a samsung for 28 days and it wouldnt power up.

All down to being unlucky with laptop brands imo

I'd almost certainly be looking for a i Processor. you'll do well to get an i5 for less than £400 though
