Just wondering if there's a way to stop this happening / force shut all affiliation with a file?
Not needed atm, just wondering how and if it's possible tbh!
Thanks

Task manager, kill explorer, delete file or whatever, then new task explorer again, assuming it's locked locally and not by someone over the network. Could be wrong.

If it's in use somewhere else (network location), short of killing the application remotely (pskill par example) there's nothing you can do - apart from save a copy.

Microsoft suck.
I'm remotely on my home pc from work, moving files over to my network, and its in use. I've shut everything down and still not wanting to move

Copy the file, paste to new location, boot in safe mode and delete the orginial.
I sometimes get this with my VM.

Or someone with access to the server where the file is stored can manage open files and close it from there.
