For anyone who doesn't understand usenet; you will download at the maximum speed your line can take, i.e. the speed your router is syncing at.
Not always the case (ie: packet/port-shaping etc), better to replace 'will' with 'usually'!
Also i would personally (just my opinion, you might have better running) opt for Astraweb over Usenetserver, as Highwinds haven't got a terrible good reputation with regards to performance, uptime, retention etc.

Newsdemon have got an offer on their Pro package, £4.44 (first month/£6.34 after). Use to use them before they put up their prices but that seems like a pretty decent deal and would say they are alright (although i did get the odd completion issue with really old files). You also get 30GB online storage which could be handy, although i never used it.
Here - https://www.newsdemon.com/billinginfo.php?pricepointid=20121044
Edit - Newsdemon is Highwinds again, hence why i moved.

I'm not sure why I went with Astraweb, they aren't cheap enough to make me move though, been really happy with astraweb so far.

Nosua, that would be awesome!
I have BT Infinity so feel I should be maxing it out a little bit more than I am currently!

It's about 20 quid a year extra doing it monthly instead of yearly.
Not very good, I just download the album though, why not.

Yup, good for albums and flac material but single tracks you're better off sticking with Soulseek.

Unless they port throttle (unlikely to throttle SSL 443, might throttle 8080, 563 etc but can't see it; most ISPs don't) or traffic manage (like Virgin do with their blanket download speed limits) then it shouldn't matter (SSL, no DPI). Plus, it isn't P2P

It's certainly more secure using SSL usenet than Torrents/HTTP Download/Kazaa but obviously you can't say it's 100% 'safe' and that you'll never get caught, you've just significantly reduced the chance.
Although saying that, you're putting a lot of trust in your provider to not be logging download transactions (usually they don't) or bend over and hand over logs when asked by the police/agencies.

Haven't had time to write one yet but I will put some links up when I'm on my laptop, and write one if still needed.
Usenet has existed long before torrents or file hosts like rapidshare and I've never read an article where someone has been caught / bent over for downloading wares through them.
As for single mp3's I search them on binsearch, although as said might as well download the album for the sake of an extra 30 seconds or so.

Sorry pal been busy with final year exams! There's a couple good links below tho (after finding and reading these I wouldn't bother making a guide!);
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=120406
http://m.hotukdeals.com/misc/sabnzbd-couchpotato-sick-beard-help-itt-1094726?mforwarded=true
Basically use sabnzbd to download, unsure of a decent indexer though because the site I use isn't accepting any new users anymore. Couch potato can automatically download films for you when they're available, sick beard is the same but for tv and headphones is the music equivalent.

Indexing sites - http://filesharingtalk.com/threads/396406-NZB-Indexing-sites!
Terminology - http://filesharingtalk.com/threads/384765-Noob-s-guide-to-usenet
Worth reading the Filesharingtalk forums anyway, lots of useful info about.
