Do you have your TV set to stretch the picture to fill the screen normally Ash?

Just checked, nope, don't know how I hadn't really noticed that before.
I'll just get a 16:9 one then, might go for grey as the projectors overly bright at night.

I bought an Optoma HD6000X-LV.
I just wanted a cheap one in case I didn't end up using it and it just gathered dust. I bought it second hand locally with 2 x 50m HDMI cables, 50m power cable, all the bits, boxed and only 7 hours use.
Think it was actually £250 with a screen which I didn't have because it was a 4:3 and so gave him £190 for it.
Turns out I use it all the time though and from the distance I sit the quality looks no different from my TV. Really improves the experience watching films @ 120".

Unless you can completely block out all light from the room it's set up in, you'll regret that come summer.

I play COD on it in the day with the blinds open no problem at all.
The LV version is a higher brightness than the standard one , bought a filter to darken it slightly for use at night/in darkness.
I'm still in two minds though...

Cheers, I've been thinking of getting some for a while to play xbox on with a few mates when they're round and for the odd film. Something cheap and cheerful but in HD would do for a years or so.

I've still got a projector sitting here that I haven't bothered setting up. Need a long dvi cable then some sort of screen made up that won't damage my wall.

We're moving house shortly so going to box the screen in in the new room so it's not visible a bit like this:
