Got the track rod ends and ball joints all changed. Play is still present. Driven to a garage and car was all over the place. Something's definitely not right, was really disconcerting.

Tracking shouldn't be out if you marked the position of the locking nut on the track arm?
If there is still play after tracking down this time, i'd say you have a steering rack issue.
If you still get wheel wobble check bearings or if it's pulling, id look at wishbone bushes, play in the topmount, soft shocker etc etc

Garage reckons there's play in the o/s tie rod. Got the car booked in to have it changed and have the tracking done tomorrow. Hopefully that'll sort it.

Tie rod? Nope.
I've changed the tie rod ends and the ball joints on both sides. But apparently there is only a bit of play in the o/s tie rod, not the n/s.

Well the car still isn't sorted. New o/s tie rod hasn't sorted the vibrations. Took the car back to the garage after going for a drive down the motorway and back and when they get a chance they're going to take it for a spin and see what they make of it. So pissed off with it now.

Yeah it's certainly been a frustrating few days.
Think we may have finally got to the bottom of it though. We suspect the wheels have a bore of 57.1mm (old VW fitment) and the Corsa is 56.6mm. So this difference is small enough for it to be hard to pick up on but enough for it to affect the balance when driving at higher speeds.
I know a company who make custom spigot rings but does anyone know if it's even possible to make rings for such a small difference?
If not the only option will be to change wheels. Something I'm reluctant to do

A real bodge I no but run round the hub a couple of times with some insulation tape

I spoke yesterday evening to a spigot ring specialist and he said that for the tiny difference in size between the wheel bore and the hub, it would be impossible to make rings to fit. The smallest he's ever managed to achieve is a side wall thickness of 0.35mm, whereas I would be looking at around 0.25mm.
We discussed the options and he mentioned 'off the record' that PTFE tape could be a possible alternative as it is durable, heat resistant and as the difference is only small it should do enough if wrapped around the hub a sufficient amount of times. As long as the hubs are perfectly round and the correct bolts are used and torqued up correctly it should work perfectly.
I bought some today that's 0.075mm thick so when wound round the hubs 4 times it should do the job, at least to get me to PVS and back anyway.
I'm taking the wheels to a machine shop on Monday or Tuesday and they're going to increase the bore of the wheels to 60.1mm so I can get some proper spigot rings to fit.

£40 to probably sort the problem...or faff around even more with finding a new set of wheels, collecting said wheels and paying way more than £40 for them when I've got 4 brand new tyres on these wheels?!
Think I know which is less hassle.

Right then, here's a chronological order of everything that has occurred.
13" standard Vauxhall steelies on - no problems
ATP alloys put on - steering wheel vibrations
4 new tyres fitted to the wheels including balancing and tracking - steering wheel vibrations still present
Front two wheels rebalanced and tracking checked - steering wheel vibrations still present
All 4 wheels rebalanced at a different garage - steering wheel vibrations still present
Garage says that the wheels don't seem damaged or buckled, excessive weights not needed to balance them
Both track rod ends and ball joints replaced
Garage diagnose slight wear in o/s track rod
o/s track rod replaced and tracking done - steering wheel vibrations still present
Garage takes car for a drive and are sure it's a balancing issue, they suspect spigot rings are needed
Car taken to a wheel specialist who confirm the ATP alloys I'm using have a centre bore of 57.1mm, not 56.6mm
Speak to a spigot ring specialist who says rings that small are impossible to make. Recommends machining the wheels as a long term solution and using PTFE wrapped around the hub as a short term solution
Wrap PTFE tape around the hub an appropriate number of times to make up for the 0.5mm difference - drive to PVS car is much better, far less steering wheel vibration
Wheels machined to 60.1mm and 60.1mm/56.6mm spigot rings fitted - bad steering wheel vibrations return
Wheels rebalanced - steering wheel vibrations still present
That brings us up to the here and now. Wheels respond to the tiniest of movements in the steering wheel so I'm inclined to rule out the steering rack. The wheels have moved corners and that hasn't changed anything. I'm getting no bearing whine and the various garages haven't mentioned bad bearings. I'm getting no judder under braking so don't think it's the discs. Please help

Are the wheels tight on the hub? You said that you've had spigot rings fitted but can you feel any movement between hub and wheel? Just to rule out that theres still a gap

I put them onto the car personally after they were machined yesterday and all four sit very tight on the hub.
