Red has this amazing power of making cars look even sportier and more aggressive, even if they don't need it. Red also helps your car stand out from the sea of silver, black and white which seems to dominate the automobile market.

It was the red cars which most stood out this weekend, and deserving so. Beautiful undisputed classics such as a Porsche Speedster, a 250 GT SWB, a 365 GTB/4 (Daytona), a Dino, a MkII Sunbeam Tiger, Jaguar Series II E-type, a Plymouth Fury and a Hakosuka (1st gen Skyline). The red standouts being a Ferrari Testarossa, a Rossion, a Porsche GT2 RS, a Ferrari F355, Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, and a Toyota Supra.

The king of the red cars was a Ford based Hot Rod powered by a Ferrari V12 out of a 365 GTC/4. The car is a former Oakland roadster show winner. The owner said that when he bought it the car had a bit over 400 miles since it had primarily been traveling from show to show and really didn't run right. The engine had come out of a wrecked Euro-spec Ferrari. Well apparently when the car was imported someone swapped the Euro-spec cams for US-spec ones but did a poor job of doing so, and because they ground down the timing marks it was never timed correctly. The car had been set to the Euro timing specs while having the US cams, hence its poor running condition. Once the car got into the current owners hands it went to a Ferrari specialist who was able to resolve its drive-ability issues and now it runs like a dream. The owner has put over 16k miles on it, yet he's managed to still keep it in pristine condition.

While admiring the car I started chatting with an older gentleman from Arizona standing next to me and as it turns out he owns a Lincoln V12 powered rod, which I've photographed at C&C before. I mentioned to him how cool it'd be to have his car and the Forrari at the same place at the same time. I introduced him to the owner of the Forrari and they exchanged contact info. Hopefully soon we will have both V12 Hot Rods at the same place. We then remembered that there is a Jaguar V12 powered rod which has also made an appearance at C&C. We just need to track him down now so we can have a trifecta of V12 Hot Rods.

It was a HOT and very sunny day, it was hard to shoot but I think we got a good shot or two in. Enjoy:

There will be no Cars & Coffee on August 18

Oh and unfortunately we had a Douche of the Week this week.

Peeling out and getting opposite lock when leaving a car show with a sign right at the exit saying NO BURNOUTS is a big NO NO!
