Ok, everyone reply their answers to the following question, the one with the cheapest option wins...

Note I'm not thinking about doing this, but just wondered how people would go about doing this if they wished. Please use sensible figures i.e. a filter does not give 10 bhp!

ok... How would you make a 1.2 16v SXI (75 bhp) corsa B, produce 90 bhp...

ok, so here's the thing you have to make a solution to, using that engine you have to find another 15 bhp minimum... and what you'd do to that car to get it, and approximately how much you'd think it'd cost.

and no go faster stripes or washer jets = 500 bhp... I'm actually curious as to how people would do this, note I think it'd probably be a waste of money if someone was to do it as a 150 bhp 2.0 16v conversion is only £1500 - £2000...

Thanks,

Paul J

Okay,

75bhp starting figure.
Air induction kit, Performance exhaust system, de-cat and a mantzel style powerbox. That along with an uprated ECU/chip will give you 15bhp - job done. Do i get a prize?

Cost - roughly £1200

There was a corsa c sxi in Total Vauxhall ages ago that put out 85bhp with a powerbox, filter and chip and backbox.

Yup, the Corsa B's only had 65 BHP, and were fitted with the X12XE.

The C's had the Z12XE fitted and produced 75 Bhp

so many people keep saying "decat pipe". I agree, the manifold (or lack of one) and the cat on the 1.2 sxi is f'in crap as its part of the downpipe. But can you get a replacement...anywhere?? Ill tell you...NO YOU CANT!!! No one makes them. Ive tryed everywhere. Unless i find some custom builders to do me one im screwed, and then they will screw me for a price. And if anybody says powerflow ill scream cos there bleeding shit.

Russ2k2, you mentioned about a 90hp 1.2 vs a 2.0 littre conversion. Just think about the power to weight ratio of a 1.2 with 90 bhp! correct me if im wrong but isent the 1.2 an alloy block? Ok it wouldent be as fast as a tuned 2.0 but i bet its not far off a standard one.

there is a right up on the help section stating that it shouldnt be to hard getting an aftermarket manifold (i think its lexmaul that just brought one out but dont quote me on it) and mating it up to 1.4SRi cat thus improving airflow and keeping the car legal for mots.

hmm, yeh I thought it only had 65 bhp, till Ojc claimed when he got his Corsa B Sxi RR'd it put out 75 bhp and a lot of his mates ones also put out 75 bhp?

my mates car puts out 75 bhp and mine is even with that, even top ends are basically exactly the same...
