I've been using some Soudal branded caulk from B&Q to fill various small gaps in the house I'm doing some work in recently and I noticed in some places it seems to crack a bit once dry.
The areas I apply the caulk to have had any dust or crap brushed away beforehand, and I make sure that the caulk is pressed/smoothed right against the area being filled so there are no gaps behind it if you see what I mean.
Should I be using a different brand of caulk or perhaps another product entirely for sorting out such problems?

Soudal is usually decent enough, what are you caulking against?
Sometimes if the gap is a bit big the caulk can pull away from one of the surfaces.

I used some of that crap and it cracked too.

Well the surfaces where it cracked are wood based - i.e. under stairs or on door frames. But curiously enough it also happened on a frame that seemed to have cement or concrete on one side.
The cracks in question (that I've been filling) were only about 3-5mm wide.

Try another brand Sam if the gaps are small. I've used this same brand recently on a crack in the plasterboard which has sunk. Thought it was the heat as this is my lounge / kitchen and the missus cooks a lot.
Experts on here will be able to give you more / better advise.

Temperature could be causing it too crack, would just try another brand and make sure no moisture gets to it.

will be the wood swelling causing it to crack, calk never drys hard so its not Ideal for wood, try some propper wood filler

Tried some Unibond "decorator's filler" (in a cartridge) seems to have done the trick. I guess the Soudal caulk wasn't up to the task in those areas which is a shame as it's about £3 cheaper than the Unibond!

Dulux trade caulk or DC one are what I use never any issues at all

The Unibond stuff is still going strong, highly recommend it over that Soudal stuff now!
