As above, cant find network. Switches between no service and searching....
Any ideas?

Recheck all the flex cables are pressed down firmly and that the little gold prong at the top of the logic board is touching the antenna(metal bezel).

I had the same problem with my 3GS after changing the battery. I rechecked the cables and it worked fine for two days then turned itself off and when I turned it back on again, it couldn't find a signal.
Got ridda the sodding thing after that.
