Hi i am rebuilding my 20XE head at the mo and in doing so i have 2 heads in bits. I have noticed that both heads have different sorts of tappets that are identical in size but not construction. I was wondering which would be better to use on a high revving track engine?
The one on the right is from the coscast head that i am rebuilding but the one on the left looks less prone to failure. Both heads have been messed with prior to me so i couldnt be sure that they are originally from these heads.

Any advice would be brilliant.

The left ones feel very solid and cant be pushed back by hand but the right hand ones are soft. Any ideas if they are sposed to be solid/very stiff?

The ones that were in the coscast head put back in,they say the head are better so perhaps the tappets are also!
If you want to get the old oil out from them put them in a vice with a socket sat on the round disc that is on the underside of it and very very gently tighten, take it slow and you won`t damage the tappet!
