Manual has gone walkabout...

What's the best way to check the oil on my 02 GSXF600? It's got a little window, but when I get the missus to sit on it so it's upright to check, I can't see any oil in the window. Because I can't get it up on the centre stand (as I am a measly human being with no upper body strength

) I don't know if the angle I'm reading it at it giving me a false reading? I've got a stand I use to lift the rear wheel, not sure if I should use that to check or not?
