Anyone use windows home server?

im looking for a solution, I have a pc where I store all my movies and tv shows which I watch through the tv..

I want to be able to get into my pc from my laptop through the home network but it isnt working. it would be good to be able to access my pc movies from the xbox and other computers in the house. so basically im asking can I use my pc as a windows server? and let everyone access it, but also use it as a normal pc to watch movies through windows media centre and play games on it?

Doesnt need to be running WHS. I plan on doing something similar soon, albeit a stand alone machine.

Take a look at PS3 media server. Any DLNA server is what you want to be running. Then any DLNA compatible client can access the media.

As oceansoul has said, doesn't have to be WHS, or any type of server OS.

It's installed on a HP Microserver N40L. I use it as a media center and often RDP into it which gives me a windows environment if I require it (I use macs elsewhere).
