I always ask this and forget what i need.
My new camera system records in mp4 files, and splits it up in 1min clips. I would like a program i could stitch these clips together into a longer clip and also would like to add the rear view in the corner of the screen while front view is playing.
At the moment rear and front recording come in two separate mp4 files

I was gonna suggest that, but not sure it could do picture in picture functionality.

Sony Vegas is excellent. I think it cost less than £30 from Play.com years ago when I bought V8.
Windows Movie Maker has improved a lot over the years, but I still think you're limited for output formats/quality unlike something like Vegas or Adobe Premier (expensive).

Movie Maker is not compatible with MP4 files best bet would be to convert them to .wmv.
