I've been meaning to cut the grass for for the last 2 months but each day it's rained and I've always been led to believe you can't cut the grass when it's wet.
Is there any truth in this? Anyone tried it recently?

Depends how wet it is. If it's a little damp, it'll be fine. If it's soaking, don't bother.
Bit late now to be cutting grass anyway.

I've always thought it's more to do with puny electric lawnmowers. I cut mine no matter how wet it is with the petrol one.

I've found that cutting wet grass just isn't worth the effort, it just clogs up everything in the mower and it dullens the blades too.

I doubt it'll do the grass any harm but if you are using an electric mower that blows the cuttings into the box clearly you are going to have problems.

Cut it when you want really the only risk is damage to your mower or strimmer,doesn`t grow so much in the winter months as there`s less heat/sun that`s all.

Mines due it's last cut. I'll get the petrol mower out as soon as we have a couple of dry days.

Cutting the grass after it's rained is fine. We cut the grass while it's raining sometimes. If it's too wet can just churn up the grass and leave marks. It does clog your mower up as well. For what it's worth I'd wait till we have a couple of dry days.

As Kyle and Mark has mentioned, it's about 10inches long and needs its last cut.
I have an electric flymo so will wait it out some more for a couple of dry days.
A bit embarrassing though

I fucking hate people who say that. Some old git told me I would put the street to shame cleaning my car so often. The fact it had been mud brown for the past two months obviously had nothing to do with it.

I employer a gardener. I hate doing lawns etc. Plus, it keeps it done.
On of our neighbours filed a complaint with our letting agent after some rain spells in the Spring when our front lawn got to about 4" long and I'd been abroad so hadn't been able to do it. So that kind of made us take that route.
We are both approaching 30 years old and are the youngest people on our road by a long way though...

I used to DETEST cutting the grass until I bit the bullet and invested in a decent petrol mower; prior to that I'd been struggling with Flymo's because I believed all of the hype!
A proper metal-decked petrol mower turns cutting the grass into a dream (and every man loves petrol powered tools!), in the summer I got slightly obsessive and I was doing the front and back twice a week and our lawn now looks like a bowling green 
I even ended up buying a petrol strimmer and hedge cutter, again it turned a arduous task into a fun one!

Did my final cut the other day when it hadnt rained for a day or so, it's mainly to stop your leccy mower blowing itself up.
Tbf, the dog has destroyed my grass anyway, there's more patches than grass. Think I'll just get a gyppo in to tarmac it, easier
