maybe the same as a fiesta, they have an electric valve that controls how much hot water flows through the heater matrix. usually mounted on engine side of bulk head. they seize up/coil fails. cant be bypassed for constant hot air as temporary fix.

Have you been doing anything coolant related or checked that the bottle is full?
It's certainly not a Connect trait, mine gets freakishly hot.

I have literally not checked or touched anything Dave, just recently since the cold weather ive obviously been trying to de ice the window and when driving the whole way to work it still wont blow hot air even though its at maximum temp

I dont think they have the control valve like Fiesta's.
Check the pipes going through the bulk head, if one is cold and one is hot there is a blockage in the matrix.
Also check other hoses, etc to make sure thermostat is opening and the hot water is getting around.

Does the engine actually warm up? maybe someone has taken out the thermostat?
check the condition of the coolant cap to make sure it seals ok

Could be an airlock in the matrix, I had one in my old Escort, absolute pain to get out. Try just running it upto temp for a bit with the cap off the coolant tank and see if the air will come out.
