im looking into adjustable top mounts i was looking at the thread on here but it says about cutting the strut tower which i want to avoid, has anyone done this without or is it the only way? any info welcome

Use upside down but as said causes wear on bearings

For road and track driving upside down top mounts will work fine for many years. Only rally driving will really affect it badly

Heard if many fitting right way, you just won't get maximum caster adjustment IIRC

Why would upside down cause any more bearing wear than the right way up? Still the same amount of force being applied to the bearing, just that fact all the force is being taken by a small circlip.
Some people mount them on top, which personally I hate as your relying on a couple of m6/m8 bolts to keep your strut attached top side, instead of the loading being on the body.
