My son managed to stick a disc into my ps3 while there was still a disc in it. I managed to get the discs out by tilting the ps3 and shaking it a little.
Now when I try to put a disc in, it goes in about 3/4 in then starts spinning. I'm guessing the disc drive is buggered or something?
How much would something like this cost to fix roughly? Is it even worth fixing, or am I just aswell trying to get another 2nd hand console and sell this as spares or repair online?

Theyre not difficult to take apart but weigh up the costs of a new one compared to a repair, how much life the PS3 might have left.

New drive looks to be about £50 on eBay, at a quick glance.
Easy enough to switch out.

what do you mean it goes 3/4 in and starts spinning?
my laser went in mine so i weighed up the cost of the 2 games i play on it which came up to £26 to download off PSN vs £50+ time taken / hassle to replace the drive unit. job sorted
totally depends on your situation

Might not even need a new drive, just open that too. Nothing to lose really, how much is a broken one worth? £30? Haven't checked.

If I go to put a disc in, it starts going in as normal , then when it's about 3/4 of the way in, it stops going into the ps3 and the disc starts spinning.
I have another 2 PS3s in other rooms, so I can still play on them. More annoyed at the fact I have a decent FIFA season saved
Will probably just stick it on ebay as spares/repair. Can just take one of the consoles from other room through for time being.
Maybe a fine excuse to get a PS4.

Can you not just backup that save in the cloud and retrieve it on one of the others?
Curious, have you tried just forcing the disc in?

Cheers, I'll have a look online for a guide and give it a go. No harm in trying.
