hey i have just had a corsa swing 1.2 (1st car) im unsure if its a 16V engine or a 8V im too lazy to have to take the rocker cover off and look, and was wondering if anyone who had a "swing" could tell me what it is. If its only the 8V then is it worth modin? can i get anything else out of the girly engine (no offence)

cheers Richard

what year is it?

if its a 16v then it will have ecotec on the rocker cover, which you will see as soon as you open the bonnet, no need to remove anything

neither of the engines are worth spending big bucks on. nice exhaust & maybe an induction kit is about the height of it. but as a first car this will send your insurance that little bit higher

cheers for replying so fast! i will look to see if it says ecotec if it doesnt then is it definately a 8V? and it is a M reg. In metalic green (quite nice colour) i can see myself getting a gsi engine in 12 months (hopefully)

why not just put a calibra 2.0l turbo in it, they only cost £700, pretty cheap for the power you are getting, i think they are like 204bhp but aint sure

8v and 16v engines are easy to determine.

The 16v has a much wider cylinder head because it has two overhead cams compared to the single one in the 8 valve engine.

(and it does say ecotech as well)
