i am very interested in doing this on my corsa. i currently have the 1.4 16v ecotec engine and want to put a 2.0 16v engine in instead.

would i be best getting a full car then swapping engine, brakes, etc.....

is it a big job? i can easily get the the engine fitted but am worried about the wiring to the new engine. i am an electrician by trade so will i be able to do it or leave it to pros?? how much roughly to get it wired in?

i have been looking at some 2.0 16v cavaliers with 4x4. would it be possible to convert to 4x4?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Paul

probably would be best getting the full car and swapping everything of that then you can see the engine running, the wiring isn't to difficult so you should have no trouble with that, and there would be alot of work trying to make a corsa 4x4 not a DIY job

how much roughly to get it wired in?
about 9 wires
i am an electrician by trade so will i be able to do it or leave it to pros??
really easy to do m8ty, do a search on here and u can find alot out and u2u me and can give u the outlines, it can be done in 24hours

Heres how to make your 4x4 system on a corsa. (ALOT OF WORK)

Used 4x4 system from Calibra Turbo.
Increased front track with of corsa so that it is the same as the calibras. (as using calibra driveshafts all round)
Removed steering rack & refitted 30mm higher up bulkhead so as to clear transferbox. Still very tight though.
Fabricated new lower crossmember to accept rear gearbox mount.

Rear- cut original corsa floor pan out to behind front seats. Weld in Calibra floor pan to mount original calibra independant rear suspension & diff. Petrol tank fabricated in boot.

Prop shaft shortened by 180mm. (taken from the the third section of the shaft at the rear diff end).

It is possible to do, but involves a lot of time to make parts, fit them, remove them, modifiy them then refit them etc.

if u get a 4x4 sell u will need a New gear box (non 4x4) and inner CV's as they will not go into your new F20 non 4x4 box

wiring the 2 litre to your 1.4 16v corsa is realy a piece of p*sh,
you want to do away with the round plug that comes with the cavy/astra engine as most off the wires are no use to your corsa.
you keep the corsa 3 wire plug at the back of your old engine this has the
red /black starter solinoid wire, theblue/white alternator light wire, and the blue/green oil pressure light wire this goes straight on you 2 litre as does
the positive and negative battery terminals from the corsa,
this means all your feeds and grounds bolt on the way they did .

the first pic shows these corsa wires on the ground

and next on the engine

you can see a small bracket in the middle bolted to the manifold I made to support and protect the wire .
After you fit this you can pare off the wires with simmilar colours from the round plug you can also cut of the reversing light wires yellow/ black and white wire as the corsa reversing light plug is on the main corsa loom and plugs staight on to the cavy g/box plug , this should leave you with one black wire left on the round plug cut this and throw the plug away the black wire is the ignition switched feed to the ecu and you need to connect it to a black wire on your corsa loom mine is part of an immobiliser so I
wont go into details where I connected mine

onthis pic the red arrow shows where the blck wire comes out the engine loom, the green dot is where the positive feed form the battery for the ecu comes out off the ecu loomI have mine tucked under the scuttle panel but if you follow the green line you can see where it comes out to the battery you want to connect this last anyway.
To wire up the temp guage ,fuel pump relay, speed sensor wires you need to make up a piece of loom like this

The red arrow is the cavy plugs to the ecu and fuel relay I joined this to the corsa ecu plug the green arrow just by matching the wire colours there are some Xtra wires on the cavy plug but thes are for fuel computer and air con so just cut and tape them into the loom there is a thik red wire from the corsa plug (live feed to corsa ecu ) cut this and tape it into loom

This is it in place without the cavy ecu installed the red arrow points to where it goes when its in there are 3 plugs that go to the plugs at the green arrow andthe yellow arrow shows where it plug into the corsa loom,
that should be you, my engine has the DIS ignition but the distributer and coil is very easy to wire in too only requiring the black ignition feed I think.

My car

hope you can see pics now no thanx to host pr*ts

u cant use gearbox and driveshafts as u need the F20 box from astra 16v or F16 box. Driveshafts need to be uprated as if u dont, urs will snap like twigs when u put the power down
