my tapets have gone on my car and are making one hell of a racket when driving! anyone know how much a set of 16 tapets will cost?

they not much each i don't think - sumin like 8 quid from a vaux motor factors..
but the overall cost tots up.

about £7/8 each from autovaux. Its unlikely they will all go together. Whats the mileage? They can be removed and cleaned quite sucessfully. It could be down to something else like low oil pressure. If you remove the oil filler cap with the engine running does oil spray everywhere? Has it happened suddenly?

yes, it shows oil is getting to the top end. If it doesn't be very affriad.

i got a 8valve mine make a sound 3rd gear doin 30, 4th doin 40 and 5th gear doin 50 not sure on the revs cause i dont have a rev counter.
been doing it for 20k and i had no problems just the sound.

how do you know its the tappets matt_jones?
They cant be lose, they are non adjustable on the 16v's.

MY Brand new corsa doesn't spit out out when its ticking over with the oil cap off.

Cause it sounds like the tappets and loadsa people have said to me that my tappets are noisy.

maybe they are just dirty or not lubed up properly n e more.
mine are getting a little noisey, but i just put that down to the high milage on my engine.

mine had only done 56k when i started driving it and it has done it since then doesnt really bother me ive had no probs with it + with my BFO cone i cant hear it unless im not flooring it

same with mine, i can only hear them if im not flooring it, but they aren't that loud on mine, can only really hear them as the engine is going down the revs. as opposed to accelerating.
mines done 87K on a 1.4 16v BTW.
although saying that if i've been out for a boot they get noisier and more noticable on tickover.
