are there other places that people could suggest mounting an amp other than the boot? I'm trying to get together a decent install whilst maintaining boot space for golf clubs, football boots, balls etc etc...
I was thinking, how about under the driver or passenger seats? Would it go under there?
I realise i'm not going to be able to mount a sub anywhere other than the boot, which is why i'm not getting a sub, was thinking of mounting components in the rear doors and having them amped up as well. Won't obviously be as bassy but it'll still sound sweet if i get some pukka comps.
Cheers everyone

you could mount it on the back of the seat.

the rear seats you mean?
I don't want any of it in view to be honest when you open the boot.

and if i get a flat?
thing is right, I want to still have the boot space and spare wheel. I know I'm not being very helpful but I just wondered if anyone had done this.
From the amps i've seen, they're pretty thin and i think they'd fit under the chair... thinking isn't that useful though and i thought maybe someone off here had already done it.

cut a indentation(sp?) into your rear cards and mount the amp there (depending on size) Then cover it with perspex to make it flat with the rear card, and some how get a decent airflow to the amp (install fan in perspex etc)
And most amps wont fit underneath your chair, because there is a ridge in the middle underneath
You could always build a false floor in your boot and mount your amps etc underneath that

the perspex thing sounds like a good idea.
when you say 'most amps', does this mean that 'some' amps 'will' fit under the chair?

well....they will still out, but you can get some really tiny amps...but your not going to get a decent power out of small amps
I believe, if you rip the carpet up, there is foam underneath the floor to make the ridge and if you got rid of that, then you could fit some amps underneath. But i dont know exact sized space, so you will need to measure before buying amp(s) etc
Only thing with the perspex idea, is that you will need to get airflow somehow, but ask Claire Richardson (i think thats her name, with the red corsa) as shes done something similar with mounting the amps in her rear cards

yes this is true
just get out your measuring tape and work out the volume of the space underneath your chair, then hunt around for a decent amp that will fit

didnt think it would be long till you replied
do you know anyone who has installed an amp under the front seats? I really want to make this option work as the others would require more effort (not that im lazy or anything).
I could velcro the amp down so that it didnt slide about as well, and it would get good air circulation as opposed to being installed into the door cards.

you would need a certain amp to be able to do it, as visible man says the clearance is tight.
TRhe only amps i can think of that should fit ok are genisis ones m8.
